A day after the state human rights commission criticised Kerala water authority (KWA) for restricting movement of about 150 families at Maharaja Lane, Anayara, by placing huge pipelines in front of the houses, the executive engineer concerned has blamed damage in the machine used for cutting the pipes for the mess, and also assured that appropriate action will be taken soon either to shift the pipes or to finish works at the earliest.Get more news about custom-made automatic pipe cutting machine, you can vist our website!
“The work was awarded to a contractor named Suresh and it was almost finished. Of the 200 meter stretch, work of 185 meters was over; however the machine which is used for cutting the pipes got damaged. The part of the machine has to be replaced, and it is available only in China. The part to replace it will reach Chennai on Saturday, and a team will go to Chennai to assemble the new portion. An assistant engineer will also accompany the team to monitor work and to verify the claims of the contractor,” said the executive engineer. The executive engineer said nearly 30 pipes have been joined together and three more pipes are remaining to be added to it. “The entire pipes which will be 200 meters long have to be pushed to the holes simultaneously to avoid technical issues. The work can be commenced on Monday and maximum by Saturday it can be finished. If the contractor fails to resume work soon, we will direct him to cut the joined pipes to shift them to safer zones. He can start work later, when he gets the machine,” the engineer said. He said since the pipes were joined, shifting them is only possible by cutting them apart. They have to be joined again when the work resumes. This will add the work burden to a great extent. |
